In mid December I had the opportunity to attend Syracuse University’s Student Accelerator Roundtable Discussion. Joined by 16 other SU alumni entrepreneurs and current SU students blessed with the entrepreneurial spirit, we discussed our experiences as entrepreneurs and the challenges we face today. It was a great session filled with interesting insights from some truly innovative and successful folks, including Philip Kaplan (aka, Pud, Adbrite and Blippy founder), Christine Whitman (CEO of Complemar), and several others.
I’m really proud to say that to this day, seven years after Night Agency opened it’s doors, we still have the spirit of an entrepreneurial start-up. It’s in our DNA and regardless of size or billings; it’s something I hope we never lose. We set out to create relevant, great work, and we’re still doing that today.
I thought I’d include a small list of thoughts to pass on to prospective entrepreneurs young and old, here goes:
- Consistently and blindly embrace change.
- Spend time with your failures; it’s the best way to learn.
- A company’s most vital asset is its people.
- Don’t lose sight of your customer.
- And never forget to have fun.
